We present a concert on the first Sunday of every month featuring musicians from both near and far, always seeking to make your listening experience fun and memorable.

Our 90-minute concerts are held at Abernethy United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806, in the Fellowship Hall at 3:00 pm sharp.

Boptism Jazz Society was founded in May of 2024 by brass player/multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Rich Willey, a longtime active member of the Asheville area music community. As a trumpet player he has toured with Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Noveau, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Rich plays valve trombone and bass trumpet and has recorded with Mel Tormé and many of his own groups. Rich is also a tuba player and frequently plays in traditional jazz and early swing bands in and around Asheville.

*In the 100th U.S. Congress on March 3rd, 1987, Rep. John Conyers, Jr. [D-MI-1] Introduced H.Con.Res.57 designating jazz as a National American Treasure. It went through the House (Post Office Committee and Civil Service Committee) and was passed on to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill was approved in the Senate on December 7th of 1987 and signed into law.
